Description:
An expendable mold is made by compacting sand around a wood or metal pattern usually mounted on a plate. The mold halves are separated and the pattern halves are separated and the pattern removed. The molten metal is poured into the resultant cavity. The sand mold is broken up to reveal the casting. Metals Poured: Most castable metals. Size Range: Ounces to many tons, depending on the foundry's equipment. Tolerances: +/- .030"/in Draft Requirements: 1 to 4 Deg.
